Every girl in the school is given a broad balanced programme of physical education. They are taught Physical Education Key Stage 2 through five areas of activities. These areas are Games, Gymnastics, Dance, Athletic Activities and Swimming, and in all of these, each girl is encouraged to plan, perform and evaluate her own work and that of others. Inglefield House has its own facilities, together with access to many of the resources of Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls; for example, the superb swimming pool, sports hall and playing fields. |

By its very nature, Physical Education is competitive. We therefore encourage competition through the House system. This is very inclusive, with every child taking part in their year group competitions, including dance at the Eisteddfod, House Netball, Lacrosse, Hockey, Sports Day and the Swimming Gala. As well as this, a range of extra curricular activities are open to all children (please see the extra curricular page for more information). Besides the acquisition of physical skills the non-physical objectives are equally as important and include co-operation, self-discipline, sharing, self-esteem, leadership, appreciation, perseverance and safety awareness. Our aim is to give the children a broad, balanced curriculum from which they can develop a love of physical exercise which they will take with them through their teenage and adult lives. |
