Year 3 Activities

Music Assembly
Year 3 recently invited their parents to join us for a special musical assembly in which the girls proudly performed the pieces they have been learning during their music lessons. The audience enjoyed performances on the violin, cello, recorder and voice.

Caerleon trip

Year 3 recently enjoyed a visit to Caerleon museum and amphitheatre as part of their history studies on the Romans.
Gamelan workshop

On Monday the 10th May Year 3 went to a Gamelan workshop at St. David's Hall in Cardiff. We played lots of different instruments from Indonesia.
"We learned how to play a song that I still can't get out of my head!" Megan
"Some of the instruments are named after the sound they make, like nong." Ellie

Owl Sanctuary

On Wednesday 4th May 2010 Year 3 visited the Barn Owl Sanctuary in Gloucester. As we are reading “The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark” it was an ideal opportunity for the girls to learn more about the lifestyle and welfare of owls. The children got to meet several owls at close quarters and actually had the chance to fly “Gyzmo”, a rather beautiful barn owl. ‘Turner’ was another of the girls’ favourites. They had the thrill of this bird of prey swooping down and feeding.

Pantomime Trip

On the 2nd December, Year 3 and 4 went to the Courtyard Theatre in Hereford to see Beauty and the Beast. The costumes were amazing and the special effects were exciting. Great fun was had by all!

Mrs Twit's Surprise Visit

Year 3 had a surprise visit from Mrs Twit. She was searching for naughty Mr Twit. Year 3 helped by immediately writing 'Wanted Posters' to describe Mr. Twit.

WANTED

 Mr. Twit

Mr. Twit has gone missing and we need your help to find him quickly!

Mr. Twit is a foul and smelly man. He looks awful as there is food clinging to his beard. His beard is as spiky as a nail-brush. There are revolting tufts almost all over his face. Do not approach him but report any sights of him straight to the police. Please help to find this character.

Kymin walk

On the 16th October, Year 3 went on a walk to the top of the Kymin. This was done as a Geography trip and was shared with The Grange Prep One. In house groups, they took part in a rotation of activities such as making leaf hats, map work and compass work, before starting down again.
