'Learning should be fun' 

We are strongly committed to the class teaching system and it is through the close bond that is formed between a class teacher and her pupil that security and stability are established and maintained. At Inglefield House, we create a happy and well-ordered atmosphere in which girls find learning a pleasure and are able to express themselves with confidence. Girls of preparatory school age are excited about learning and we are committed to helping them realise their potential.  At this stage of their lives, girls need to build a solid foundation for future learning. Therefore, although we do take account of special aptitudes, we provide a broad curriculum. The girls acquire a good command of the English language, learning how to communicate effectively, developing a love of reading and becoming competent in their writing. In addition, we encourage curiosity and observational skill in science and technology.

The Fun of Learning

The girls develop a knowledge and understanding of basic mathematical operations. The environment in which pupils live is explored and explained through the study of history, geography and religious studies. The children learn the skills and pleasure of self-expression through a variety of creative arts, and benefit from a broad programme of physical education activities. All of this happens in a delightful setting. The classrooms are light, bright and airy, and the specialist facilities include design and information technology areas. Classrooms are arranged around our excellent communal resources - an assembly hall, library, ICT suite and art area.
