Girls are normally admitted to Inglefield House in the September following their seventh birthday, but there is facility for entry to every year.
All parents who are considering sending their daughter to us are welcome to visit the school on a normal working day by appointment. This gives parents, and their daughters, an opportunity to meet the staff and pupils, view the facilities and resolve any initial queries or difficulties.
A registration form, available from the Admissions Secretary, is completed by the parents before the end of February in the year of admission and returned to the school, together with a registration fee to cover administrative costs.
It is necessary for prospective pupils to attend the school for entrance tests prior to admission.7+, 8+, 9+ and 10+ tests are held early in the second half of the Lent term, usually in early March. These tests include reading, mathematics, story writing and reasoning. Entrance tests can be arranged at other times during the school year. Offers will be made in writing within two weeks of taking the test. There are two classes in each year, which average 14 but will not exceed 20 in size.
We like to feel reasonably confident that any girl who joins us will be able to proceed into the senior school at eleven. All our pupils are required to take the Entrance Examination into the senior school, and as the school has a very strong academic tradition, our own candidates need to be able to reach the necessary standard of attainment at the end of their four years in the department.
