Busy Bees at Inglefield House

On Friday 3rd February, the Eco-Club were in for a treat.  Whilst munching on delicious honey biscuits, the girls listened to a fascinating talk about the production of honey.  Mr Richard Linnell, father of Eco-Club member Megan, came to talk to the girls about bee keeping.  The girls were shown the different sections that make up the hive and they learnt that each colony may include up to 50 thousand bees, with the Queen bee the most important!  Mr Linnell explained how the smoker was used to keep the bees calm so that the honey can be harvested and the girls tried on the protective clothing.  Our Inglefield Eco-Warriors learnt a great deal from the visit, one of the highlights of which was tasting the local honey.  Our thanks to Mr Linnell for the talk and to Mrs Linnell for the delicious biscuits!
