On Friday 21 May, Inglefield House held its annual Speech Day.
Parents, pupils and friends joined guests as the Inglefield House orchestra started the proceedings with 'Spring from The Four Seasons' by Vivaldi. Guests were welcomed by Mr Sheridan Swallow, Chair of the Governors.
This year’s Speech Day was particularly poignant as it marked the retirement of Mrs Rose Vigrass, Head of Inglefield House, who will be leaving at the end of term after 20 years’ distinguished service at the school. In her speech, Mrs Vigrass reflected on her time at the school and celebrated the girls’ achievements.
The prizes were awarded by the well-known children’s author Anne Fine, who has written over 40 books and won numerous awards. In 2001, she was chosen as Children's Laureate. Anne Fine addressed the audience and encouraged girls to discover their true passion, be it reading, painting or sport, to help them lead happy and fulfilled lives.
The girls entertained guests with a ballet presentation and performances by the String Quartet, the Inglefield House Choir and the Inglefield Strings. Mrs Helen Davy, Headmistress of HMSG, presented Mrs Rose Vigrass with a bouquet as she thanked her for her commitment and dedication, to a standing ovation from the audience.
