All girls in Inglefield house take part in hockey lessons in the Michaelmas term.
In year 3 and 4 the aim is to learn the basic skills and how to play safely in small sided games. All girls will play in a full game against another school by the end of the term and participate in House matches. By year 5 and 6 the girls will have gained sufficient skills to play regular matches on Wednesday afternoons against local opposition.
Year 3 Play Their First Hockey Matches
There were mixed fortunes in the first-ever U8 hockey matches, played on a cold, sunny afternoon. All the Year 3 girls were included and they fielded two teams. Playing against Red Maids School, the Spots won 5-1 while the Stripes learned a lot from their 1-4 defeat. Having practised individual skills during their lessons, the girls were challenged when working as a team, but learned very quickly as they battled with their opponents.
